Auto quote cropping sucks please turn it off

I get that some people here are insanely sensitive to quote chains and all but I don't think we need vB automatically cropping out older quotes in a chain, especially when it completely removes the context in which a reply is made.

This has been brought up before on the old boards, and it has been brought up before on these new boards.

Speaking personally and not in any kind of definitive capacity, each quote has an arrow icon that will take you to the previous post in the chain. A couple of clicks can generally get you up to speed. Personally I think it's excessive to have the entire thread history in every quoted post, and having to recursively generate quotes for stacks and stacks places unnecessary load on the server. On the upside, nobody has to go in and clean out quotes and BBcode when posting, making it much, much easier to do post using quotes.

Sorry if it's inconvenient for you, but there aren't any plans to turn that feature off right now.

Yeah I like quote cropping, then I don't have to scroll through a pile of rubbish. It won't lead to confusion if you actually read the thread.

I'm a fan of quote cropping. I'd rather users just cut out earlier quotes themselves but where one cannot manage, cropping is the way to go.
