Enough people have suggested The Longest Journey that I want to give it a try. The second is on the Xbox, but the first is PC only, and I'm someone who simply has to play a series in order. I haven't gotten a PC game in a few years, and now I know why - stupid system requirements and not knowing if a game will work or not. According to Steam, I meet all the minimums and suggestions, except I'm not sure of the video card. It says "100% DirectX 9.0c compatible 128 MB with latest drivers." I have a Radeon 9600 Pro, but I can't find the memory listed anywhere in the hardware profile of mine. It seems from ATI's site that only 128 MB's are sold now, but I have no idea if that was the case a few years ago when I got mine. Anyone able to help?

I'm pretty sure the 9600 series is 128. If you want to be completely sure there is a demo (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=6320&s=0,1,11,64,69,77,402,414,197,469,218&i=0,10,20,70,130,220,240,440,1200,3483,4000,4540,4 550,2147483646,2147483645,2147483644,2147483643,21 47483642,2147483641,2147483640,2147483639&cc=US&client=1) on Steam

I'm not sure if the Steam version is any different than the regular one, but it's got to be one of the least demanding games I've played in recent memory - I wouldn't even be surprised if it's actually got a software mode, since most of the game uses 2D backgrounds with 3D sprites and isn't a whole lot more detailed than something like FF8. I'd imagine your card could run it without a problem.

The problem isn't The Longest Journey, but Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, which is certainly more demanding. I don't see a demo for that one on Steam.
