It’d been widely reported that Nintendo had no plans on bringing the acclaimed RPG Xenoblade Chronicles to North America, despite an English-language European release. Well, now that’s changed.
Originally spotted by a NeoGAFer, Nintendo has since reversed course on their decision and will be publishing a limited release of Xenoblade Chronicles in North America thanks to, of all entities, GameStop. Picking up on gamers’ enthusiasm for the title, GameStop has secured a retail exclusive for the title, and Nintendo will even be selling the game directly.
Xenoblade Chronicles will be available in April for the Wii.

I'll be on this like Donkey Kong...is.
Yes please. I will buy this.
edit - and I'm surprised of all companies, Gamestop is the one doing it.
Huh. Color me surprised. Internet outcry and petitioning appears to have worked.
By the time it comes out the game won't sell for shit, I think a lot of Wiis are going to end up gathering dust once poples finish their Skyrim Sword, but it's still a pretty cool gesture. I was thinking about importing this game and playing it via emulator -- now I can actually buy via NOA.
whats a skyrim sword
I still have the game in celofane. With Skyward Sword and parenthood it'll probably be nearer to april when I finally get around to playing it
Good news for those of you on here that really felt one uped by it not being released in America.
I've heard its an outstanding game. I will definitely buy this.
screw this xeno chronicles b.s. I want skyrim sword
ahem
I don't think I would play EITHER of those dudes in skyrim sword
unless skyrim sword is substantially dumber than you have led me to belief
I don't buy games for $50+, but I'll make an exception for this one.
I've been following Xenoblade Chronicles since even before the whole release debacle, so this news is super good for me. I really was honestly thinking of importing the EU version, even though I don't really do that very often (though I DID import a Japanese Game Boy Advance the day those were released in Japan - and yes - I did have to wait a year [or however long it was before the US edition was released] until I actually had any games to play on it.).
The game looks great, and the reviews have been extremely positive. So look out Gamestop - here I come!
Now if only those other two RPGs would get the same treatment I'll be a happy camper - Especially the Mistwalker one (The Last Story), after Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey I think I'll buy any RPG that studio puts out as those are a couple of my standout RPGs from this generation.
I'm super on board with picking up Xenoblade Chronicles, and I suspect it'll be an awful rare disc to boot, so it'll be one to get my grubby mitts on. Not so sure about The Last Story though, it doesn't sound like a lot of fun, though I did very much enjoy Last Odyssey. Never played Blue Dragon though, I was a little put off by the demo and I really don't want to play a game with THAT boss theme. You know the one.
Yeah - while the boss theme in Blue Dragon was terrible, it really didn't stop my enjoyment of the game. Pure old school RPG love right there.
You guys are crazy, the boss theme from Blue Dragon was cheesy awesome.
