Originally announced for November, Nintendo has announced that an upcoming update to the 3DS’ firmware will arrive December 8.
According to their official site, the firmware is “in the final stages of internal testing.” When released, the update will give 3DS owners 3D video recording capabilities, new StreetPass games, a 3DS-to-3DS transfer service, DLC infastructure, sleep mode download and the ability for publishers to release demos for games via the Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo also has plans to release a web/smartphone based version of the eShop, so 3DS owners can brows the store without their 3DS handhelds, though there is no date yet for that, though some of the groundwork will be contained within this update as well.
