Square-Enix’s AR RPG has a stupid name, but looks okay

Not too long ago, we reported on Square-Enix’s announcement of their upcoming augmented reality RPG, “Bravely Default: Flying Fairy.” Its name is still terrible, but at least it looks great.

Planned for release on the Nintendo 3DS next year, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is mostly a traditional JRPG that uses several of Square-Enix’s usual tropes, which we’d pretty much be over already if it didn’t look so darn good. Of course we’re expecting turn-based combat and of course we’re expecting the game to make heavy use of AR cards – because that’s what Square-Enix told us, but we can also see in the small bits of footage coming out now that the game does a great job of emulating the stellar concept work that Square-Enix is known for. So for graphics hounds, at least there’s that!

There are cleaner videos that this out there, that show us the game’s intro and a little bit of what’s to come, but this one has a translation. What, you already read fluent Japanese? Just turn the captions off, then.
