You can thank the Sony hackers for this Uncharted feature

When Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception launches in November, among its many network features, it will feature LAN support. That’s pretty unusual! It turns out, the folks who hacked the PlayStation Network are more or less responsible for this added feature.

During the three weeks that the PSN was down, the folks at Naughty Dog were working on a three-person co-op mode and 10-person multiplayer mode – both of which they’re very excited to share with you. However, with PSN down, it made working on network features rather difficult.

So the co-lead designer, Jacob Minkoff made the decision to build in LAN support, to keep work moving. And they won’t be stripping it out of the final product – we’ll have LAN support too.

So… thanks, Sony hackers! Our LAN parties just got a little more interesting.

Very cool. LAN play is much more of a hassle to set up, but multiplayer is always better when you can throw cushions at each other.
