At the Barcelona-based Gamelab 2011, Mojang Specifications’ Daniel Kaplan confirmed that the upcoming Scrolls will follow the same gradual release plan as their massive hit, Minecraft. Kaplan explained that the game will be released “very early,” and will be constantly patched and updated up through its release.
He also announced that the game is being developed by a five person team, which is a 500% increase over Minecraft’s development group, which was essentially Markus Persson. He further outlined the future of the company, revealing that the studio is considering becoming a publisher for smaller indie developers.
“We’re looking for… people who are very passionate about what they’re doing,” Kaplan said. “We’re also looing for games that last longer, and treat games as a service, like Minecraft does.”
