Kaz Hirai promoted to SCEI chairman

This week, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. announced that Kazuo Hirai, formerly President and group CEO has been promoted to Chairman, starting September 1. He replaces Ken Kutaragi, who left his role as honorary Chairman for the peaceful pasture of retirement, and actual Chairman Akira Sato.

Kutaragi is known in general as the “father of the PlayStation.”

Other shufflings include Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Andrew House, who will take over as group CEO of SCEI, and SCEE Executive Vice President Jim Ryan taking over his old job.
