Here’s your first look at Super Mario 3DS

Nintendo took the opportunity to introduce us to our first look at Super Mario for the Nintendo 3DS, noted by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime as the first 3D Mario game developed from the ground up for a handheld console.

Though we don’t have a lot of details yet, we do have this trailer, and among other things it shows us – the return of the tanooki suit! We don’t see Mario turn into a statue here, but this is clearly the tanooki suit and not Raccoon Mario, since we don’t see any coveralls.

What’s your favorite Mario powerup? Think it might be included here? Let us know in the comments!

My first thought in watching the video was this: God DAMN, Mario looks chubby in that Tanooki suit. Like Carl from Aqua Teen chubby.

some of those camera angles look like they'd drive me nuts.

I think the disclaimer at the beginning of any 3DS trailer is funny.

  4. SteveM's Avatar SteveM says:

I think it looks great. I found it odd that they had him moving around at such a slow pace for most of the trailer though.

  5. JonathanL's Avatar JonathanL says:

It all seemed kind of sparse, too, but that might just be the limited scope of the camera.
