Dragon Quest compilation includes DQX footage

Marking the 25th anniversary of Dragon Quest, Square-Enix will be releasing a bundle containing several versions of Dragon Quest I, II and III for the Wii, due September 15 in Japan.

However, this compilation has more than just great box art. It will also contain bonus footage of the upcoming Dragon Quest X, which has yet to be officially unveiled.

Guess we know when we’ll be posting info on that game.

I'd like to see DQX on consoles. And consoles not named Wii or WiiU. I know DQ is known for it's graphics but DQVIII looked pretty damn good and I prefer to play games on a big screen.

I'm pretty sure that DQX was already announced for Wii. Also, I'm assuming you meant that DQ "isn't" known for its graphics, right Dan?

  3. Dan's Avatar Dan says:

Yeah that's what I meant. And if DQX has already been announced for Wii than it's a dumb move on SEs part. The Wii lineup is dwindling and people are going to jump ship to the WiiU. I'd like to see it on 360 or PS3 and think they would be the better platforms for the game due to the install base of core gamers. The Wii has not proven successful with a niche game like this (in the US of course, in Japan it will kill it either way).

DQX was announced for Wii eons ago. It's just they haven't shown a lick of it in the years since.

Again, dumb move in my opinion unless all they care about is Japan sales. In which case they could release it on Virtual Boy and it would still sell 10 million units in it's first hour.

To be fair, they probably DO only care about Japan sales. DQ has never really started the world on fire, with every effort to bring the franchise to western audiences meeting with lukewarm sales.

The speed that the fantastic localized version of DQVIII hit the bargain bin still depresses me.

I liked DQ8 a lot, but when I realized I wasn't even close to beating it a 45 hours, I moved on (much like FFXII).

The BEST part of DQ8 is after you beat it you find out that there is ANOTHER 20+ hour optional quest at the end. I LOVE That game!!!!
