Celebrating independence from Britain, Mars-style

The upcoming scrolling vertical shooter Jamestown seems especially fitting for an announcement coming off the July 4th American holiday, in that they both feature a distinct nose-thumbing at Colonial England. There are key differences though. Jamestown the colony was considered the first permanent American settlement. Jamestown the shooter is a four-player co-op affair taking place in 17th century colonial Mars.

It’s also a retro-themed SHMUP with some amazing pixel art. It’s being developed by Final Form, a three-man team in Philadelphia, and is slated for release next year “with other platforms to follow.”

Let us be the first to say: this looks awesome.
