Did anybody know Sunsoft was still around? Maybe it’s not common knowledge, but in any event, they’re still at it – y’know, the whole games development business. Over the weekend, they announced the impending release of Blaster Master: Overdrive, a re-imagining of the original Blaster Master released for the Nintendo Entertainment System all those years ago.
Just how impending is “impending?” The game’s coming out tomorrow, Tuesday, on WiiWare for 1000 points.
Like the original, Blaster Master: Overdrive features both side-scrolling and overhead action sequences, but it also features several new modifications to the SOPHIA tank, like a grappling hook and a drill.
Lately it seems as if the Wii has become the home for several games of this nature, most notably Konami’s Rebirth series, as well as Capcom’s retro-styled Mega Man releases. (Though of course, the Mega Man games are multi-platform.)
It’s not yet clear whether the game will be as impossibly hard as the original, or if the pause trick still works. If you’re interested, check out tomorrow’s WiiWare update to find out!
