Nintendo calls Iwata’s DS2 comments “misinterpreted”

Satoru Iwata

Everybody is expecting a new Nintendo DS eventually. But Nintendo is trying to curb speculation on the device prematurely.

Recently we reported that Nintendo Co. Ltd. chair Satoru Iwata had given some of the first details to the Asahi Shimbun newspaper – Nintendo of America’s corporate communications senior director Charlie Scibetta is now telling Kotaku that this is false, and that Iwata’s statements were “misinterpreted.”

As reported by the Asahi Shimbun, Iwata is said to have stated that a DS successor would have improved graphics and motion controls. Neither statement is particularly shocking, but it seems that until Nintendo officially announces it, mum’s the word.
