Years after first announding their intentions, Microsoft is finally set to bring their LIVE service to mobile phones, specifically phones running Windows Mobile 7. This comes on the heels of their resounding success in translating the hit Xbox and Xbox 360 service to PCs. Wait, does anyone actually use Games for Windows LIVE?
Microsoft states that they intend to bring avatar integration to the mobile platform, and they are currently gathering staff to help bring “Xbox Live enabled games to Windows Mobile” suggesting that we’re looking at more than a mobile platform to check your friends gamerscores or see which netflix movie they’re watching.
While this is an intriguing concept, the question remains: with the widespread success of the iphone, Android being the new dark horse and windows smartphones quickly falling by the wayside, how relevant with Windows Mobile 7 even be?
