Japanese developer releases cutesy game about animals

Yes yes, we understand this is breaking news so forgive us for being somewhat smarmy about it, but here we are.

Though truth be told, it is the first of its kind, as there has never been a horizontal hamster shooter for the Sony PlayStation Portable, well, ever. So technically it’s a world first!

In any event, The Game Atelier has just released the first screenshots from their upcoming game The Flying Hamster for your viewing pleasure. Featuring over 35 enemy types, six levels, 8 different weapons, ninja squirrels and laser-eye owls, it seems like some finely crafted madness.

A release date has yet to be announced.
