More details on Super Street Fighter 4′s new fighters

   Not to happy about the character choices. I'm sure they will be great for tournament play and the like but it's such a sausage fest as is it'd be nice to get more of the female characters back in.
   
   So far all I see are characters I will never play even when bored.

   Yeah I agree Tequila. I'd really would like more female characters. I've been hoping that we'll get the entire 3S female lineup in there with Elena, Makoto and Ibuki.

   Well, there are two character slots left: so you're not getting all of 'em. And if you care about continuity at all, none of them would really be old enough for it to make sense – though Dustin made the argument when we were talking about it that since Sakura is STILL a teenager, it probably doesn't make THAT huge of a difference.
   
   Personally I couldn't care less about Makoto, but Elena and Ibuki would be neat additions. I'd kind of like to see Juni or Juli as a variation on Cammy, or if you want to get tricky and keep the whole Final Fight thing going they have with this update, put in Maki (Final Fight 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX) to bookend with Guy. Or maybe Rainbow Mika for laughs.

   You sure there are only 2 slots left? How many new characters have been announced? I've read that they may have up to 10 new characters in this one.
   
   I realize I won't get my wish of all the 3s women making it into the game. If I could choose I'd go with Elena since I think she has the most unique style and she was who I played most in 3s. Makoto and Ibuki would be a toss up though I think I'd choose Ibuki again because she seems a bit more unique.
   
   As for age related stuff, other characters already don't make much sense in terms of being in the original release of SFIV. Plus I don't think too many people care about the time line and I'm sure they could just come up with some way to have it make some sense.

   Anyway, I'm with you, if any of the ladies from SF3 were to make it into SF4, Elena would be my first choice as well.

   Dudley and another new character - a grappler - will round out the roster.
   
   "Eight more characters" was just some random bullshit to get people stoked when it turns out to be ten.

   I guess I shouldn't say I don't like Makoto, admittedly I only ever scratched the surface of playing her, just that she certainly isn't my first, second, third, fourth or fifth pick. =)

    Yeah I played Elena as well. Though I never got to into SF3 enough where I was really good with her. I just liked her capoeira fighting style and thought it was one of the more interesting styles that they have had in a SF game. My guess is that she was probably low tier and that none of the pros used her.

    I don't see why not, personally. I mean I'm no pro so that probably has something to do with it, but by Third Strike I thought she had great reach, decent speed, a good anti-air game and decent power to make all the rest of that worthwhile. No projectiles if that's important to you, but otherwise there aren't many good reasons I can think of NOT to use her.

    I don't think who the pros use is really the driving factor over who is getting on the roster, fan service seems to be the order of the day. I mean they threw Cody in there, but not only has he only been in one game, but I'll eat my hat if he was a top tier character in SFA3.
