Gran Turismo 5: a costly venture

Gran Turismo 5According to an article in AutoWeek, the development cost of upcoming flagship racer Gran Turismo 5 is somewhere in the neighborhood of $60 million. Of course, that’s spread over the game’s five year development cycle, but that’s still some serious scratch.

Not in the eyes of GT’s creator, Kazunori Yamauchi though. When asked about the dev cost, Yamauchi said “There are other games that cost more. Considering the size and scale of the game, it’s probably a small amount.”

For folks itching to get their hands on the next-generation racer, it’s due out in Japan March 2010. A North American release date has yet to be announced.
