Dragon Age to (not) use SecuROM

In an announcement sure to please just about anybody, Bioware announced that the PC version of the upcoming Dragon Age won’t be using SecuROM for its copy protection scheme.

Chris Priestly, Bioware’s community coordinator on their official forums posted that “the retail PC version of the game won’t require you to go online to authenticate the game for offline play. We have chosen not to use SecuROM in any version of Dragon Age that is distributed by EA or BioWare.”

Instead, the game will use a simple disc check to verify that the game was legally purchased for use.

Good deal!
