Gametap will be removing 97 games from it’s free library on Thursday, making them available only to their subscribing members. As the current free library contains about 145 free games, this comes to a 67% reduction in size. Several of the notable titles in Gametap’s lineup are included in this cut, including Tomb Raider Legend, Psychonauts and Deus Ex.
In the future, Gametap has stated they will be making certain titles available for a weeklong release, before moving them to subscription-only; a method they have been making use of for the last year with American McGee’s Grimm series.
It is speculated that the move has something to do with Metaboli taking over the service in the near future, but this has yet to be confirmed.
